In simplest form, eDrive software enables information to be exchanged between Building Automation System (BAS) elements that do not share the same communication protocol. It requests values from a system or equipment that uses one protocol and makes those values available using a different protocol.
This provides true system integration capabilities where information can be shared or passed between components of a building, even though they would not normally be able to do so on their own.
eDrive installs and operates as a service in a Windows workstation or server operating system environment and runs continuously to exchange the values of points you select from one system to the other.
In more detail..., eDrive polls for the value of the selected points in the source "devices" and holds them as internal, eDrive objects. Those objects are then made available to the portion of the BAS intended to use those values.
The user configures eDrive to select which points are needed from the source device(s) and how their values will be made available to one or more "consumers" of that information.
