Johnson & Johnson – Vistakon
Johnson & Johnson - Vistakon
Objective
The production of contact lenses is subject to strict regulation. In addition, the production environment must be rigorously maintained and monitored for quality control. Vistakon’s objective is to achieve these goals with highly efficient and reliable building systems controls.
Solution
Facility Automation Solutions has provided Vistakon with a variety of systems and support, including:
- Control and monitoring of HVAC and central plant systems including special fume hood control and monitoring
- Large-scale metering of specialty gases and pilot line controls for repeatability
- Staff technicians on-site for research and development facility operational and service needs
- Validation and verification functions of the system used for this highly regulated industry
In addition, we have provided centralized communication to 100-plus Phoenix fume hoods, York chillers and the facility’s lab annunciation and warning system. All networked devices were tested and approved for the Johnson & Johnson worldwide network, and the systems were integrated using Schneider Electric software approved for FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulation compliance. We also provided user-dedicated color touch-screens for scientists and lab technicians.
Results
Vistakon’s integrated systems control and monitoring network has enabled the company to maintain a consistent manufacturing environment and meet stringent regulatory standards.
