Baptist MD Anderson

Objective

Baptist Health has been on a path of continuous expansion for decades. To help manage its building systems more effectively, it partnered with Facility Automation Solutions in 1992 to create what has grown into one of North Florida’s largest centralized automation control and security access systems. Recently, the Facilities Department at Baptist Medical Center, the system’s downtown flagship hospital, wanted to manage its central energy plant more strategically.

Solution

Facility Automation Solutions worked with Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center facilities personnel to implement a solution for a new state of the art building integrated to the existing complex.

The Medical Facility utilizes a Schneider Electric EcoStruxure platform for the building controls, the building access control, and the video management system while integrating with a variety of other critical systems into a comprehensive control and monitoring user interface. The system provides building engineers with quick access to needed readings and adjustments.

With standard browsers, personnel can view specific information appropriate to their access permissions from anywhere on or off campus. In addition, Facility Automation Solutions provides training to the staff; enabling them to handle many situations without assistance.

Results

The staff is now able to see where and how effectively energy is used.  Managers can compare operational efficiencies, make appropriate purchasing decisions, and develop best practices for a variety of energy consumption and cost situations.

The Security department and guards have instant access to security threats with phones, tablets and browsers for through the IP level access controls and IP video systems that identify threats and even analyze license plates as needed.
